Dear Advertisers and Readers
St George slew the dragon, or so they say. The patron saint of England is celebrated on the 23rd April which means, lockdown rules allowing, we can raise a glass or three to the memory of this gallant man who symbolises the triumph of good over evil. Hopefully the vaccines can similarly beat the daylights out of Covid 19 and by the end of the summer a normal life can be resumed. It can’t come quick enough for most but it would be silly to throw away the gains that have been made in defeating this horrible virus. Patience is the word to avoid becoming patients. Just because there will be widespread inoculation, it doesn’t mean that Covid 19 has gone away. Social distancing and hygiene rules will be with us for some time yet and we will all just have to put up with it.
The forthcoming Bank Holidays will tempt us to let rip but restraint will still have to be exercised. However, our magazine shows you ample places that you can spend the cash you have saved during lockdown, when you haven’t been getting out and about, holidaying, or even filling the car with fuel when things eventually begin to open up. Enjoy a spending spree if you can and better still, do it locally and support our loyal advertisers. Not everything is off this Spring. Broadditch Farm will still hold an Easter Bunny Hunt from 31st March to 18th April. Book online and head for the woods behind the duck pond. Don’t go to the farm shop. NAG Craft Fairs and Markets are looking forward to getting going asap with two venues already booked, New Ash Green Village Hall on Saturday 17th April from 10am – 2pm and the White Swan Public House, Ash on Sunday 2nd May from 10pm – 2pm. To reserve a pitch or stall, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember to enter our April Wordsearch competition. The prize this month is A CHOPPING BOARD AND CHEESE BOARD valued at £100 courtesy of WRIGHTSTONE specialists in Granite, Quartz and Marble worktops based in MEOPHAM. Entry deadline is 14th April 2021. The winner of the BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET OF FLOWERS courtesy of FLORAL EXPLOSION in LONGFIELD in the March competition was SUE JARRETT of LONGFIELD, the hidden sentence being A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD SMELL AS SWEET.

Another anniversary has arrived this month – marking the 10th year since Carole and Sally took over the running and presentation of your favourite monthly advertising publication – THE VILLAGE ADVERTISER. Carole and Sally have worked hard over the past decade to improve the quality and distribution of the VA and their success is there for all to see. Of course, without the monthly presence of the advertisers and diligence of our printers it wouldn’t work. So, thank you for reading and here’s to a bright and happy future.
Carole, Sally, Colin.
