DEAR READERS AND ADVERTISERS

April Fools Day or All Fools Day is a worldwide phenomenon celebrated in all sorts of daft ways. From Beijing to Brussels, Edinburgh to Adelaide someone, somewhere will be trying a humorous trick on an unsuspecting person or another.

The tradition of pranking goes back to Roman times and is sometimes indulged in by institutions such as the BBC and national newspapers. So be careful of what you are offered (up until midday anyway) on the 1st but be prepared for a fun surprise which, hopefully, will start this regeneration month off with a spring in its step.

No hoaxers in The Village Advertiser of course, the pages are full of excellent companies offering a tip top service in our local area.
BROADDITCH FARM in SOUTHFLEET are organising their annual EASTER BUNNY HUNT. Why not go down to the farm and give your lungs a spring clean whilst having some fun! Hunt amongst the spring flowers on their woodland trail to find the lost bunnies. When you have found them all it is time to claim your ‘egg-citing’ prize! Open every day from Saturday 29th March until Sunday 27th April during farm shop opening hours. Purchase your trail sheets from the Farm Shop then set off to the woods behind the duck pond. Trail sheets are £4.50 each, no pre-booking necessary. If you want to stay a while and enjoy a picnic there are picnic tables in the play area behind the duck pond.

The 27th April is the day of blisters, chafing in unlikely body places, muscle strain and tremendous satisfaction at completing the London Marathon. Thousands will be celebrating with family, friends and charitable beneficiaries on the completion of this daunting run. With participants helping to raise over £1 billion since its founding in 1981, including £67 million at the 2024 London Marathon which was the highest amount for a single-day fund-raising event. 840,318 have applied to run the 2025 London Marathon this year which has seen a record number of applicants. The BBC covers the event, devoting rolling coverage for most of the morning.
