The Easter Bank Holiday comes at the beginning of the month this year followed by May Day Monday bank holiday on the 4th 0f May and Spring Bank holiday Monday on the 25th of May. The showery month of April can be lovely with Spring really getting going, days lengthening and all sorts of attractions and sporting events ready to welcome you, your family and friends. Getting out and about around our glorious county after the winter is refreshing and in no time at all it will be summer!

The 26th of April is the day of blisters, chafing in unlikely body places, muscle strain and tremendous satisfaction at completing the London Marathon. Thousands will be celebrating with family, friends and charitable benefi-ciaries on the completion of this daunting run. With participants helping to raise over £1 billion since its foundingin 1981. The 2026 London Marathon has seen another record amount of entries of 840,000 and it is expected that more than 56,000 people will run and finish the 2026 TCS London Marathon. Almost 57,000 runners completed the 2025 London Marathon. The BBC covers the event, devoting rolling coverage for most of the morning. One such person enduring his first London Marathon is Matthew Stacey. He is raising funds for thecharity Barnardo’s.
