Dear Readers and Advertisers

On the 5th July we elected a new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour party and the first time since 2010 that the Labour party have been in power of the government. It was a landslide victory showing Rishi Sunak and the Conservative party that the country have had enough and we hope that at least some of the promises in Labour’s manifesto will be honoured. Only time will tell!
Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. He claimed an emotional victory as it ended 945 days without a win in Formula 1. It was the 104th victory of his career, with Hamilton's 103rd win coming 56 grands prix before at the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP - making.it the ninth biggest gap between victories in F1 history.
Getting to the final of the UEFA European Football Championship is England's first time in a foreign country. Gareth and the boys did so well to get to the final. Spain were just too good and our boys worked so hard and fought to the end.

Holiday time is here again and for our school children, bless them, a welcome relief from all those end of term exams and pressures to do well. Not everyone will be going away of course and for all those who take their holidays at home let’s pray for good weather as so far our summer has been a bit of a washout. What-ever you and your family are up to this month, have a safe and happy time and return refreshed and ener-gized and ready for the challenge of a new term, perhaps a new job or challenge and if you need anything practical or in the leisure or hospitality line, where better to look than in your favorite advertising magazine – The Village Advertiser.
