With Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations approaching and after the past 2 years it is wonderful that we can celebrate her 70 years of service. Queen Elizabeth II is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee and Her Majesty's dignity, commitment and grace continues to inspire people all over the world. There is a 4 day Bank Holiday to help us celebrate starting on 2nd June and running right through until 5th June. Look out in your local area for celebrations all weekend that you can join in with and enjoy the extra day. 

 

On another note this June edition marks 30 years of The Village Advertiser. The first edition was published in the New Ash Green area only and was just an A4 sheet of paper. Slowly more areas were added and each area had their own version. Hartley, Longfield and New Barn, West Kingsdown and Swanley. In March 2011 C & S Publishing took the reigns of The Village Advertiser, but instead of publishing four, one for each area, we consolidated them and published just one and hand delivered the same one to all 4 areas, which was printed in a single colour A3 folded into A4. Then in June 2012, to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s 60 year Jubilee, we decided to publish a full colour version. This was met with fantastic comments and we have continued to publish in full colour ever since. 

 

The missing word in our May Wordsearch competition was GODDESS and the winner of the £50 GIFT CARD to spend at BLUEWATER, courtesy of THE VILLAGE ADVERTISER, was JANE HORROCKS of WROTHAM. June’s competition prize is AFTERNOON TEA FOR 2 courtesy of PIPPA at WHITE FINCH BAKERY located in MEOPHAM. Entry deadline is 14th June 2022.

With the summer approaching fast, there are lots of Summer events happening within our communities. Check out the local events. Here are some dates for the diary: 25th June, Borough Green Primary School Summer Fair from 12 - 3pm, 25th June, Milestone Academy Summer Fair from 11am - 3pm, 25th June, The Parish of Fawkham and Hartley are holding their annual Church Fete from 12 - 4pm at St Mary’s Church Meadow, Fawkham Road, and don’t forget the Babes Ball on 6th July, back after a 2 year absence and in a new venue, Hartley Country Club. And last but not least, don’t forget Father’s Day Sunday 19th June.
