Dear Advertisers & Readers
1st March, St David’s Day, 17th March, St Patrick’s Day. Daffodils and shamrocks will be sported by those in the British Isles with Welsh and Irish affiliations. No doubt many a toast will be made, especially by those who no longer live in their home countries but are nostalgic for the past when they did. We don’t make so much of saint’s day any longer but perhaps we would if they were Bank Holidays. Unfortunately the dates don’t always land on the weekend and the powers that be whom regulate these things wouldn’t allow days off in the middle of the week. Boo hoo! Compared to other countries we don’t have many extra working days off beyond our leave entitlements. However our advertisers who provide drinks and vitals will be pleased to see you when you host or toast the saints day or your choice.
Remember to enter our March Word Search competition. The prize this month is 3 COURSE LUNCH/DINNER FOR 2 at THE GREEN MAN, LONGFIELD HILL. Entry deadline is 14th March. The winner of the LUNCH/DINNER FOR 2 WITH WINE AT THE HILLTOP, STANSTED courtesy of DAREN in the February competition was DIANNE SLOUGH of GRAVESEND, the missing word being FLOWERS.

The great easing of Covid restrictions is in full flow now but, understandably, folk are still wary of getting back to full social mixing. However there is one annual occasion, Mother’s Day, that cannot be ignored and it will involve lots of socialising. This occurs on Sunday 27th March and has special resonance as there is no doubt that Mum’s have carried a great burden throughout these awful last two years. Let us make Mother’s Day extra special, give thanks to them and for them and let every Mum know how much they are appreciated and
Carole, Sally and Colin
