DEAR READERS AND ADVERTISERS
Welcome to the award winning The Village Advertiser!
There is always lots to celebrate in March, especially if you are patriotic. The Welsh start things off with St David’s Day on Sunday 1st March, when our Welsh friends sport daffodils and leeks and then along comes St Patrick’s Day, also known as the Feast of St Patrick, on Tuesday 17th March, which gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate all things Irish with green being the colour of the day, the shamrock the symbol of St Patrick and Guinness a favorite tipple. These patron saints always get a better showing than poor old England’s St George, but his day, 23rd April, gets pretty much passed over. However, the biggest celebration in March is and should be Mothers Day (or Mother-ing Sunday) on Sunday 15th March. Mums deserve a special day. Where would we be without them? So let’s pamper and praise them, treat them and adore them to make them feel really appreciated.
Remember to enter the March Wordsearch competition. THE WHITE HORSE OF KENT FREEMASONS are offering a prize of ‘AFTERNOON TEA for 4 people at ROWHILL GRANGE in HEXTABLE’ Entry deadline is 14th March. The winner of the LUNCH OR DINNER FOR 2 PEOPLE AT THE HILLTOP HOTEL AND RESTAURANT, STANSTED, courtesy of DAREN in the February Wordsearch competition is JANE PARKISS of NEW BARN. The missing words being ROMANCE and TRUE LOVE.
