Dear Readers and Advertisers

What a difference a month makes! New Monarch, new Prime Minister along with her front line team, cooler weather and of course Christ-mas is just a stone’s throw away. With the new Prime Minister came the mini budget. This provoked even more anxiety for most people. The cost of living being the obvious. What with rising fuel bills, rising mortgage costs and rising food costs, it is a very worrying time for us all. This is where food banks can help out. There is the Community Cupboard based in West Kingsdown, Dartford food bank, Swanley and District food bank, Sevenoaks Larder food bank, Gravesend Family food bank, Gravesham food bank and The Trussell Trust food bank to name but a few. Check out your local church or community centre as there seems to be more popping up all the time. Now is the time for us to reign in our spending, turn off unnecessary lights, perhaps just lower the heating by a degree or two, turn down the heating in the rooms that are not being used and generally check the prices of everything we buy. Food prices can vary considerably from shop to shop so make a list, check the prices online (if you have access) and shop wisely.

The October competition has proved very popular so we will be doing it all over again for November, so turn to page 10 and complete the word search. You do not need to cut anything out just write your answers along with your name, address and phone number on a postcard or sealed envelope for a chance of winning a £50 gift card to spend at Bluewater Shopping Centre, Greenhithe. The draw will take place on 14th November 2022 so get your entries in by then. The winner of the £50 gift card to spend at Bluewater shopping centre, Greenhithe cour-tesy of The Village Advertiser in the October word search competition was Jade Collins of Sidcup. The missing word being BALMORAL.
