Dear Readers and Advertisers

The Olympics (except the Paralympics) are over for another four years. Paris did a fantastic job, hosting and displaying their beautiful city. Didn’t team GB do well? Every Olympics our superb athletes seem to step up to the task of achieving the very best for themselves and their country. Sadly some of the familiar faces will not return. They have stepped down but they have given so much to their sport and have inspired future athletes but they will probably be there in the background supporting our up and coming young athletes. America and Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Olympics. The LA28 Games will feature 50+ Olympic and Paralympic sports, 800+ events, and over 3,000 hours of live action. Across sunny Southern California, 80+ venues await, promising fans unbeatable spectating experiences. The LA28 Games will mark Los Angeles’ third time hosting the Olympic Games and the first time hosting the Paralympic Games.

September is often the most attractive of months. Nice warm, mellow days are seen as a bonus on top of summer as autumn creeps up on us, a prelude to winter. Leaves change colour and drop, the last cuts of grass are made, the farmers assess their summer yields and children are packed off to school in their smart new uniforms, ready to face the challenge of the new academic year.

Friday 27th September is the date to put in your diaries for the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is Macmillan's Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Total money raised in 2023: £18,041,302. This is enough to fund 288 Macmillan nurses for a year. So check out in your area for a Coffee Morning near you and support this event or even host your own Coffee Morning.
